Favorite piece of kitchen equipment! - I have started making nearly everything in my le creuset. Short ribs, chili, vegetable soup, chicken tagine, everything comes out WONDERFUL. I think I'm less nervous about trying out new recipes because this thing never fails me. Also, I had heard that Dutch ovens are difficult to clean. Not the case with this one.
A wonderful French Oven - I know it is expensive. It is heavy. But it cooks wonderfully and is worth every penny. It is a pleasure to use. It heats up well and cooks quickly if you are in a hurry. Of course, it is a slow cooker and excels at slow cooking. I consider this an heirloom as it will lasts for years and years if it is used properly.
