The Beginnings Of The Fizzy Water

Adding carbon dioxide to water was a new invention sometime between 1740 and 1772. Now, carbonation is linked to some great health benefits! Carbonated water improves dyspepsia and constipation. And when prepared at home, carbonated water drinkers are far more likely to remain fully hydrated compared to those that do not consume carbonated water. It pays to use an Aarke or SodaStream.

SodaStream, as a company, began back in England in 1903. It was created by the famous gin distiller Guy Hugh Gilbey. Now based in Israel, SodaStream carries over 100 flavors of concentrated syrups, which create healthy beverages.

Aarke started more recently in 2013 but has quickly become the fan favorite of all things carbonated! Aarke is a Swedish design firm. They engineer superior at-home necessities designed to blend extravagance with daily consumption. Aarke is on a quest to redefine the residential, domestic device business. In a class of goods that has been overlooked by the design society, Aarke combines made-to-last value, superior raw materials, and a distinctive design methodology.

Appearance

A neutral matte colored Aarke Sparkling Water Maker

SodaStream has the look to be expected from a carbonated water machine - a black stand holding a bottle. The SodaStream collection comes in four colors in some of their high-end models, but most only stock black machines. We like the teal SodaStream x bubbly drops Fizzi Sparkling Water unit. It’s great for a going away to college gift for some lucky young lady!

When we look at what Aarke has brought to the kitchen counter, we are amazed! This machine is reminiscent of the soda jerk devices of the days of old, but much more technologically advanced! Aarke favored the Italian espresso systems, which are recognized for their legacy and robust materials. Aarke melded this brilliance with a minimalistic style, then included the best conceivable internal & external pieces. The outcome is an ageless kitchen appliance that looks as well as it performs.

Construction Of The Different Products

The SodaStream’s Spirit cordless sparkling water maker.

The fabrication of the Aarke was quite remarkable. Aarke believes in restoring their devices instead of substituting them with another. This attention to detail and quality constantly pushes Aarke’s limits to re-engineer all facets of their Carbonator III Sparkling Water Maker. They construct, create, and check all products in their Stockholm facility. From the initial optical reaction to the contact feeling in the hand, and then when the collaborative consciousness of the invention is of the highest quality, it will be boxed. All the way through a deliberate and careful creation enhancement procedure, Aarke seeks to develop a carbonation drink machine that lasts generations!

The SodaStream construction has been almost unchanged since its inception. Some great new features have been added throughout the years, but primarily a SodaStream contains the machine which we all know, a carbon dioxide canister, and one or more refillable drink containers. The container, loaded with water, is implanted into the device, and with a push of a button, condensed CO2 from the canister is infused, producing carbonated water. This is a very straightforward device that provides carbonated water at home.

Which One Is Easiest to Use?

Hey, let’s not kid ourselves. We all enjoy cooking and delving into the culinary realm, so carbonated water should be as simple as boiling water. And it really is when you employ either of these two fantastic home water carbonating machines.

The SodaStream’s steps in making carbonated water aren’t as difficult or time-consuming as wikiHow makes it sound. They state that all it takes are 15 easy steps, but in reality, you just unscrew your CO2, place it in the back of the SodaStream, fill up their bottle with cold water, screw on the bottle, and hit the button. Add flavorings thereafter, shake, then drink if you wish.

As for the steps for using Aarke - simply fill your container with cold water to the fill mark, then affix it to the system. The knob is where Aarke’s proprietary technology takes over by carbonating your water and emitting tension from the container. Just push and hold tight till you receive a buzzing noise to discharge and remove the container from the device. Again, the lever really brings back nostalgia on this gorgeous machine.

Cost

Pricing between the two competitors is, as expected, close. The SodaStream has many more plastic pieces involved; therefore, the price drops a bit from the Aarke. The Aarke, on the other hand, is fabricated with a complete stainless steel enclosure and comes with a BPA-free PET water bottle. The black matte finish, as well as the copper, add a touch of refinement to your home drinking station but will cost you only a few more dollars for the luxury.

Carbonation Quality

With Aarke, you only touch the lever once to begin the carbonation procedure. The intensity of carbonation relies on how much you pull the lever downward. Once you release the lever, it spontaneously circulates any additional pressure from the container. The water will have enjoyable bubbles that are not very assertive. The carbonation is delicate yet robust, compared to the level of carbonation of the high-end French bottled stuff. The carbonation seemed to hold itself overnight!

As for SodaStream, you have to push the knob a small number of times to produce great-tasting fizzes. The water becomes very frothy and has a rewarding mouthfeel with a mixture of large and tiny suds, akin to champagne bubbles floating in a glass. The carbonation lasted just slightly less than the Aarke when left out overnight.

Bottle Conformability

SodaStream started the carbonation revolution decades ago. Their bottle quality has been great. With Aarke on the move to surpass SodaStream, they ensured compatibility with AGA, SodaStream, Linde, SodaMagic, Vikingsoda, and other standard 400-425g/60l cylinders for sparkling water makers.

SodaStream bottles that are compatible include: The Slender 1L plastic carbonating bottles are consistent with the Fizzi™, One Touch™, Genesis™, Splash Play™, Source™, and Power™ Sparkling Water Makers. And the typical 1L plastic carbonating bottles are well-matched with the Fizzi™, One Touch™, Jet™, Genesis™, Splash Play™, Source™, Cool™, and Power™ Sparkling Water Makers. Some will fit the Aarke as well.

So, Which One Is Best For The Buck & Bubbles?

When it comes down to the final purchase of your brand new carbonation maker, think about the looks, quality, and price. Will you be using it a lot, or just during summer fun? Will your new unit sit proudly on the countertop or be stashed in the pantry? Do you enjoy carbonated beverages every day? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then either brand will suit your needs! The Aarke is a robust machine that performs and looks great! But the price reflects this. The SodaStream has been around forever and consistently does its job time and time again.

The choice is yours to make! Stay happy and hydrated with either machine you decide to purchase. Nothing makes a party more impressive than carbonation!
